Student Organizations
UAC is comprised of 17 incredible student organizations. Click on a group's picture to learn more!
Blue Bop Jazz Orchestra
Blue Bop Jazz Orchestra is the only student run jazz organization on the UMich campus. We put on swing dances, concerts, and in various student and university events. We collaborate with many other student organizations, performing with dancers, singers, and participating in other collaborative events. If you're interested in jazz, swing, big band, or just music in general, BBJO is the premiere jazz organization on campus.
Every Three Weekly
The Michigan Every Three Weekly, also known simply as The Every Three Weekly and E3W, is a student publication at the University of Michigan modeled after the satirical news publication The Onion. Named as an homage to student newspaper The Michigan Daily, The Every Three Weekly contains fictional news articles that satirize local, national, and international events and public figures.
Impact Dance
Impact Dance is a dance company open primarily to non-dance majors in the University of Michigan community. The company is relatively small, with only about 20 members each year. The company's members choreograph and perform pieces of a variety of styles including, but not limited to, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and hip hop in fall and spring shows as well as many other guest performances throughout the year.
M-agination Films
M-agination Films is a student production company through UAC at the University of Michigan. The Board of Producers, made up of Michigan students, chooses 15-16 passion projects per year that are submitted by other students to produce, shoot, and screen at the Michigan Theatre in Ann Arbor, MI in April at the Annual Festival.
MUSIC Matters
MUSIC Matters is a student-run non-profit organization that aims to use the unifying power of music to drive social impact in our community. Throughout the year, we host concerts featuring a range of local and national talent. Every April we produce SpringFest, one of the largest student-run events on campus. This day-long festival includes student performers, local vendors, food trucks, student organizations, and a range of sponsors, and is capped off with a headlining national act. We also have three social ventures: the Big Thinkers Scholarship, MOvE: the Michigan Overnight Experience, and our CoMMunity Partnership.
MUSKET
Founded in 1908 as the Michigan Union Opera Company, MUSKET was once a small, all-male theatre troupe that specialized in presenting works written by University of Michigan students. Later realizing the irreverent nature of their gender limitations, the organization shifted its focus in 1956 to include students of all genders and changed their name to "Michigan Union Shows, Ko-Eds, Too", or MUSKET for short. With this shift also came a change in the organization's content - instead of producing student written operettas MUSKET began presenting Broadway-style musicals, a tradition that has lasted over 50 years.
RhythM Tap Ensemble
RhythM Tap Ensemble was founded at the University of Michigan in the Fall of 2000 with the purpose of promoting tap dance on campus. They are a student-run performance group comprised of passionate and dedicated, advanced tap dancers. They choreograph their own dances and conduct regular rehearsals during the school year. Their efforts can be seen in several large performances each year, as well as several variety shows and charity events.
