Intergalactic Pops

Led by Music Director Rotem Weinberg and Assistant Music Director Tal Benatar, the Michigan Pops Orchestra presents “Intergalactic Pops” on Sunday, November 19th, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. in the Michigan Theater. As the University of Michigan’s only student-run, student-directed orchestra, Michigan Pops is putting on a show guaranteed to thrill audience-members of all ages, including music from Gustav Holst’s The Planets, John Williams’ E.T. and Star Wars, and Michael Giacchino’s Star Trek. “Intergalactic Pops” will be a dynamic and engaging show utilizing a unique combination of vocal performers, multimedia, stage antics, and special effects.

Pops appeals to the music-lover in everyone with its diverse repertoire, ranging from classical pieces to pop music hits to popular film scores. Working under the guidance of the University Activities Center, the Michigan Pops Orchestra’s members comprise a diverse group (undergraduate and graduate) of students, from English to Engineering. This 100-member, tightly-knit ensemble demonstrates passion for musical collaboration each semester with an exhilarating performance.
